What ChefWaala actually is

Most caterers are one kitchen with one menu and one opinion about what your event should cost. ChefWaala is not a kitchen. It is a network of more than 100 Indian restaurant partners and 300 service professionals across New Jersey, and a way of putting your event in front of the ones that fit it.

You tell us the occasion, the headcount, the town and the date, once. That brief goes to the partners who cook that cuisine and cover that town. They quote; you compare. The food is cooked by the kitchen you pick, in their own licensed kitchen, by people who cook it every week.

Why it is built this way

Nobody wants to ring nine caterers. That is the whole problem, and it is worse for Indian catering than most: the kitchen that does a Gujarati thali properly is rarely the one you want for a Hyderabadi biryani, and neither may cover your town on a Saturday in October.

One brief to many kitchens also changes what a price means. A single caterer's number is an opinion. Several numbers for the same brief is a comparison, which is why we can say honestly whether a quote you are holding can be beaten.

What we hold ourselves to

An itemised price in 60 minutes, 9am to 9pm, seven days. Food, staff, rentals and delivery as separate lines with the assumptions written down, because a total with no breakdown cannot be compared with anything.

Hosted, not just catered. Larger bookings come with a named captain running service and staff who know the occasion — when the pooja pauses the meal, what goes out first at a sangeet, what Jain means in a kitchen.

Nothing to pay us. Customers are never charged. The partner kitchens cover the cost of the brief, and we tell partners exactly that before anything is agreed.

Who cooks your food

Food safety paperwork, insurance and licensing are checked before a kitchen receives a single brief. It protects the customer, and it protects the other partners in the network whose reputation travels with the name on the invoice.

Any event, from a 25-guest house pooja to a 2,500-guest wedding, in all 21 counties of New Jersey.
